As we all know, 2020 has been an incredibly trying year for healthcare organizations across the globe, and Gurwin Healthcare System is no different. While we are hopeful that the worst of the pandemic is behind us, we realize that there is a long road ahead.
At Gurwin Healthcare System, our future remains clear. We are committed to our mission of providing the highest standard of quality healthcare to the communities we serve … but we need your support now, more than ever.
While much of our local area was on pause during the darkest days of the outbreak, our healthcare heroes on the frontlines here at Gurwin worked around the clock to care for our most vulnerable residents, despite fears of the unknown and concerns for their own health and family’s health. We see the fortitude, strength and compassion in their eyes and in their actions each and every day, as they provide treatment, facilitate video calls and other therapeutic activities and, provide support and comfort to residents as they celebrate milestones or in their final hours. If ever there was a time to honor our healthcare workers, now is that time.
These few examples illustrate our commitment to providing 5-star quality care for those who turn to us when they need it most. As a not-for-profit organization, we depend on your support. A gift of any amount will help us continue to care for generations to come.
We hope we can count on you.
On behalf of the more than 900 staff members who care for nearly 1000 elderly, frail and medically-complex individuals on the Gurwin campus and throughout the Long Island community, we thank you for your support during these challenging times. Your generosity, thoughtfulness and concern are very much appreciated.

Ways You Can Help:
Support Our Building Fund – Your financial contributions will keep us at the forefront of specialty care and will enhance the lives of those who call Gurwin “home.” We opened our Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Resident Pavilion and Community Service Center in 1999, increasing our bed capacity to 460, and expanding the enrollment of our Adult Day Care Health Program to 133 individuals daily, six days a week. In 2001, we opened the Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences, a 201-apartment assisted living community that provides residents with the comfort and security of their own apartment with medical assistance and companionship always in sight. In 2020, we acquired Island Nursing & Rehab Center, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility located in Holbrook, expanding Gurwin’s skill and leadership to community members further east on Long Island. And, rounding out of continuum of care services, in Spring of 2021 we began construction of our Fountaingate Gardens 129-independent living community for individuals age 62 and better, which is scheduled for occupancy in Summer of 2022.
Your financial contribution can be earmarked to specific areas reflecting your own personal interests.
Support Our Endowment Fund – Your gift will establish or support enrichment programs which enhance the quality of life of our residents. Your support will enable us to provide entertaining and stimulating recreational activities, evening cabarets, computer outreach for seniors, youth career awareness programs, and housing subsidy to those in need.
Support Our Tribute Fund – A gift that continues to give to others is truly the ultimate gift, and a donation through the Gurwin Tribute Fund will help us to continue that tradition of…caring for those who cared for us.
Your gift through our Tribute Fund enables us to create a home environment where quality of life is more than a priority, it’s our mission. By acknowledging a special person, a memorable occasion, an outstanding achievement, or honoring the memory of a loved one, you are supporting meaningful programs that enhance the quality of life for literally hundreds of individuals at a time in their lives when they deserve the very best. In addition, a commemorative card will be sent in your name to the person of your choice.
