Entries will be accepted for the Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center’s (Commack) Annual Photo Contest from February 15 through April 15. Amateur photographers may submit a maximum of five entries, at $5 per entry, in the following categories: Landscapes, Travel, People, Pets, Children, Nature, Wildlife, Still Life, and Computer Manipulated. This year, a student category was added for photographers under the age of 18, or those who are 18 but are still in high school.
Photographs will be judged by professional photographers at the close of the contest, and winners will be chosen based on clarity, composition, subject matter and suitability for display at the Center. Winning photographers will be awarded various cash prizes at a reception held in June, and winning photos will be enlarged and permanently displayed at the Gurwin Center for the enjoyment of residents and visitors to the facility. The deadline for submissions is April 15.
For the fourth consecutive year, The Tiffen Company (Hauppauge) will sponsor the contest, making it possible for Gurwin to enhance the lives of its residents through the breathtaking photography that is shared each year by amateur photographers from all across Long Island. The contest is sponsored in memory of founder Nat Tiffen.
