Commack, NY- The Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is calling for volunteers to assist in all areas of the Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, one of (Commack) Long Island’s premier health care facilities.

Gurwin volunteers strive to give our residents and day care participants a truly enjoyable experience each and every day. In giving their time and talents to benefit the lives of our residents, Gurwin’s more than 300 volunteers often find they get more than they give.

“Volunteers are as valuable as our staff members and they are “paid” in the joy they get by helping others,” said Kathleen Donnelly, Director of Volunteers.

Our volunteers are a vital part of the Gurwin experience. They work with residents on a daily basis, helping them participate in recreation activities, including games, lectures, trips and sports, as well as transporting to physical and occupational therapy.

Our dedicated volunteers run a friendly visitor program, visiting residents daily on a one-to-one basis or in groups. The gift shop here is also completely run by volunteers, who act as sales personnel and resident shopping escorts. The opportunities to volunteer are numerous and varied- so there is an experience waiting that is perfect for you!

Volunteers are always needed! Give a gift beyond measure, become a volunteer! Gurwin offers its volunteers day, evening and weekend schedules and welcomes both adults and teens.
